The Court made the observation while hearing a petition filed by R Subramanian, promoter of retail chain Subhiksha.
Subramanian, who was convicted in 2023 by a special court, is serving a 20-year sentence for defrauding depositors.
He approached the High Court last year challenging his conviction and seeking several interim relief.
On Wednesday, Subramanian’s counsel told the bench that the convicted businessperson wished to argue on his own in some of the matters pending before the High Court.
