The Bench was informed today by Advocate Shyel Trehan, counsel appearing for the producers, that the movie has already been shown at many international film festivals, and has been distributed to cinema halls. Therefore, any change in it would be very difficult.
The petitioners had argued that the characters in the film have names that sound phonetically similar to theirs and those of their deceased daughters, and that the movie shows real footage of the incident.
However, Justice Mridul said that no one remembers the names after six years, and that a fictional movie can be based on true events.
