The High Court was dealing with a suit by doctors alleging public nuisance and misrepresentation by Ramdev for making statements against allopathic medicine and doctors while promoting his own tablet Coronil.
Last week, a public interest litigation (PIL) petition was file by IMA before Supreme Court alleging a smear campaign against the COVID-19 vaccination drive and modern medicine.
During the course of the hearing, Chief Justice of India NV Ramana questioned Baba Ramdev on his attempt to discredit allopathy and its practicing doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Why is Baba Ramdev accusing doctors allopathy etc? He popularised yoga. Good. But he should not criticize other systems. What is the guarantee that what he follows will cure everything?…Why is Baba Ramdev abusing the system like this,” the bench had remarked.
