How did you Apply?
Sir has a very straightforward recruitment policy and he doesn’t discriminate between an NLU and a non-NLU student. One simply needs to send his CV and Cover Letter to Swarup.law@gmail.com and sir personally looks at each and every application that comes to him.
It is advisable to send him the mail about a month or two in advance as he receives a lot of applications seeking internships under him.
First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression
Sir has 2 offices. One is at 30, Todarmal Road, 1st Floor, Bengali Market New Delhi -110011, where he and his father Senior Advocate Mr Manoj Swarup sits and the other office is at 166, East of Kailash, New Delhi where he usually sits. We reported mostly at the east of Kailash office however in some instances we were asked to report at the other office as well.
There are no such formalities. On my first day, I reached the office at sharp 10 am and thereafter, I met sir at around lunchtime. After having a brief introductory session with him, he directly assigned me a case and then I started working on it. In the evening, I had a discussion session with sir pertaining to the case at hand.
Main Tasks
The main task as an intern is to read bulky case files and determine the Question of Law and then work extensively on finding legal precedents/case Laws of the Supreme Court or High Court or a relevant Tribunal.
The work included quality research on some very interesting current matters related to Land Laws, Constitutional Law, Consumer law and many more. At the end of the day, Sir would call the interns into his cabin and would discuss the relevance of the research work allotted.
Once you submit your work after spending and working on a Legal proposition for almost an entire day or so, don’t get satisfied too early, re-read it again and again. Sir will test your ability and would also give you ample opportunity to self-judge and introspect where are you lacking.
Work Environment
The work environment is very cordial and the staff is also very helpful.

Lessons Learnt
The best part about this internship was that working with Sir enhanced my legal research skills. This internship will help you to “look beyond obvious, adding flesh to the skeleton and making depth greater”
