JOB POST: Advocates in various Tribunals, Courts, and other Statutory Bodies by South Railway [Tamil Nadu and Kerala]: Apply by Jan 31

Applications are invited from interested Advocates for engagement as Railway Advocates for the Central Administrative Tribunal, Railway Claims Tribunal, District Courts, Sub-ordinate Courts, and other Statutory Bodies in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

About Railway Tribunal

Railway Tribunal is a quasi-judicial body formed to determine losses against Indian Railways in case of any natural or unnatural events causing losses to the passenger or freight handled by railways.

Job Period, Termination, and Resignation

  • The Advocates shall be engaged for a period of 3 (three) years which may further be extended to 2 (Two) years on a yearly basis subject to the performance of the advocates as recommended by the Zonal Office and approved by the Railway Board.
  • The Counsels may resign by assigning any reason and giving a notice of a minimum period of 3 (three) months.
  • The services of an Advocate may be terminated on the basis of a performance review.

Essential Qualification

  • Minimum Qualification LLB
  • Enrolment Certificate of practice at the BAR Issued by BAR Council.
  • Desirable Qualification LLM
  • The Experience Certificate of the Advocate shall be endorsed by the Chairman of the concerned Bar Council or his nominee.

  • Applications in the prescribed format (in the notification) may be sent either by email to lawofficersrly@gmail.com or by Registered Post addressed to “The law Officer, Headquarters Law Branch, Southern Railway, IV floor, Moore Market Complex, Park Town, Chennai – 600003“
  • An advocate may submit only one application for Central Administrative Tribuna/Railway Claims TribunafDistrict Courts/Sub-ordinate Courts/Statutory Bodies indicating his/her choice. However final decision for empanelment/choice of the court rests with the Selection Authority.
