About the Opportunity
The Child Protection Officer reports to the Child Protection Specialist who is at Level NOC for guidance and general supervision and works in coordination with the Chief of Field Office and the Chief of Child Protection. This post is open for Indian Nationals only.
The selected applicant will have an initial two (2) year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension, subject to satisfactory performance.
Roles & Responsibilities
- The Child Protection Officer works under the direct supervision of a Child Protection Specialist.
- The Child Protection Officer provides professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programs/projects within the Country Programme from development, and planning to delivery of results.
- H/She prepares, executes, manages, and implements a variety of technical and administrative program tasks to facilitate program development, implementation, program progress monitoring, evaluate, and reporting.
Eligibility Criteria
- A university degree in one of the following fields is required: international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or another relevant social science field.
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management in child protection-related areas is required.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered an asset.
- Relevant experience in program development in child protection, child labor, child marriage, adolescent empowerment, and family-based alternative care-related areas in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
- Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
