About the BERC
The Govt. of India enacted the electricity regulatory commissions act, 1998 (No.14 of 1998) on 2nd July 1998 the provisions of which were repealed and reenacted by the electricity act, 2003 (36 of 2003) with the objective of providing for the establishment of a central electricity regulatory commission and state electricity regulatory commissions, rationalization of electricity tariff, ensuring transparent policies, regulations, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelors’ degree in Law from a recognized University.
- At least five years of legal work experience out of which a minimum of two (2) years of legal work experience in an electricity distribution company/ electricity regulatory commission or any organization in the power sector.
- Good knowledge of the law, electricity act, 2003, and rules & regulations made there under and consumer affairs.
- Experience of appearance before electricity CGRF/ombudsman in any state in at least five cases.
- Preference will be given to experience working in the electricity regulatory commission.
- Good communication & drafting skills in legal matters.
