Brief Laws is a legal website that provides summaries of essential judgments in the most simplistic manner to assist lawyers, law students, and others interested in law.
The objective is to increase productivity and cut downtime spent searching the judgments by providing a starting point or point of reference through summarising lengthy judgments in the form of case summaries. There are also blogs on different areas of law.
About the Opportunity
Brief Laws invites applications for an editor. As our Editor, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the quality and integrity of our legal content. Your keen eye for detail and impeccable editing skills will ensure that our case summaries, blog posts and other publications adhere to high editorial standards. Location New Delhi
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Edit and proofread legal articles, blog posts, and other written materials for clarity, grammar, punctuation, and style.
2. Ensure accuracy and consistency in legal terminology, citations, and references.
3. Collaborate with writers to refine content and enhance readability while preserving the author’s voice and intent.
4. Conduct fact-checking and source verification to maintain the highest level of credibility.
5. Stay up-to-date with legal developments and trends to ensure content relevance.
6. Provide constructive feedback and guidance to writers, fostering continuous improvement.
7. Coordinate with the content team to meet publication deadlines and manage workloads effectively.
Required Skills
1. Excellent command of the English language.
2. Flair for writing and basic research.
3. Analytical bent of mind.
4. Good deductive reasoning skills.
5. Ability to work on MS Word.
Eligibility
1. Bachelor’s degree in Law.
2. Proven experience as an editor, preferably in a legal, publishing, or content-driven environment.
3. Exceptional command of written English, with a strong grasp of grammar, punctuation, and style.
4. Familiarity with legal terminology, concepts, and research methodologies.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide constructive feedback.
