Kerala High Court to restart physical hearing from February 28

A notice to that effect was issued by the Registrar General of the High Court which also said that the option of hearing cases online through video conference will be available as well on request by lawyers.

“It is decided to resume physical sitting at the High Court from 28.02.2022 (Monday) onwards. However, there will be an option for hearing cases through video conferencing to lawyers on their request,” the notice said.

Such option will follow the guidelines that had been issued by the court the first time it decided to open its gates after the pandemic began in November of 2021.

On January 17, the Court had to switch to online hearings in light of the surge in cases of the Omicron strain of COVID-19. When the decision was revisited on February 16, the Court decided to continue with the system for one more month or until the test positivity rate (TRP) in the State falls below 10%.

The TRP in the state fell below the 10% mark earlier this week.

All throughout this week, several judges of the Court had said that physical hearings would resume soon.
