Madras High Court to begin hybrid hearing of cases from next week considering rise in Covid cases

The Registrar General of the High Court, P Jothiraman, issued a notification on Thursday saying that the Court has decided to opt for hybrid hearings as a precautionary measure, to reduce footfall in the Court.

As per the notification, all lawyers as well as litigants appearing as parties-in-person, must try to use the video conference facility for hearing of their cases and should try and opt for e-filing in all cases.

“In view of reports citing gradual rise in COVID cases, as ordered, the Madras High Court, as a precautionary measure to reduce the footfalls in the Court halls and the Court campus, resorts to hybrid mode of hearing of cases on a daily/regular basis,” the notification stated.

Last month, the High Court had begun hybrid hearings only on Fridays every week. However, beginning Monday, hybrid hearings will be conducted on all days until further orders, the notification said.
