About the Competition
Moot Court Society of NMIMS, Hyderabad is organizing a National Memorial Drafting Competition, in 2023. The competition aims to help future lawyers improve their writing, research, and analytical skills. Having the ability to draft effectively is fundamental for any budding lawyer.
Prepared for a legal situation, players should exercise caution and their knowledge of the law. The Moot Court Society of NMIMS School of Law Hyderabad feels honoured and proud to organize its 1st National Memorial Drafting Competition 2023. Aiming to provide students with a platform to showcase their legal writing and drafting skills.
Eligibility
All students enrolled bona fide in an undergraduate i.e., 3 years/ 5 years or postgraduate law program conducted by any college or university shall be eligible for participation in the competition.
Submission Guidelines
- Teams shall submit ONLY one memorial representing the side allotted by the Organizing Committee.
- After registration, teams will be provided with a code and the allotted side.
- All written submissions are required to be made in English, which shall be the official language of the Competition.
- At any stage of the competition, a team must be identified only by the allotted team code.
- All team members must refrain from disclosing the identity of their institution at any time in any manner during the course of their participation in the competition.
- Non – compliance to any of these rules shall lead to disqualification.
- All the memorials should be submitted both in pdf and word format.
- A penalty of 0.5 points per hour on each memorial shall be imposed for any submission made post the specified time.
- Memorials submitted 12 hours beyond the specified deadline shall not be evaluated.
- The content of the memorial should not be plagiarized by more than 10%. If the plagiarism is between 11% – 49%, there shall be a penalty of 1 mark for every 1% of plagiarism.
- The Organizers reserve a right to disqualify a team if the Memorials or any other part thereof is found to be more than 50% plagiarized during scrutiny.
How to Submit?
All teams are required to send soft copies of their memorials to mcs.solhyd@nmims.edu.in with the Subject “Memorials (Team Code) – National Memorial Drafting Competition.

Awards and Rewards
- Best Memorial for the Petitioner: Rs 3,500
- Best Memorial for the Respondent: Rs 3,500
- Runner up (Best Memorial for the Petitioner) – Rs 1,500
- Runner up (Best Memorial for the Respondent) – Rs 1,500
- The top 10 teams will be receiving certificates of merit.
- Each participant will receive a Certificate of Participation upon successful participation in the competition.

- Deadline for seeking clarification – 18th February 2023.
- Release of Clarifications – 23rd February 2023.
- Last Date of Memorial Submission – 28th February 2023.
- Result Declaration – First Week of March
