The ED had arrested Malik on allegations that he had purchased certain property at a rate lower than market value.
After the Special PMLA Court took cognizance of the chargesheet in May 2022, Malik filed for regular bail.
Malik moved High Court after a Mumbai special court had rejected his bail plea in the matter on November 30.
In his plea, filed through Rashmikant & Partners, Malik stated that the Special Court had failed to take into consideration the observations made by the High Court in its order granting bail to former Maharashtra Home Minister, Anil Deshmukh.
Malik also claimed that the Special Court had erred in disregarding Malik’s medical condition.
On December 13, 2022, the High Court had refused to grant urgent hearing after noting that Malik had been admitted to a private hospital and was receiving treatment.
