Supreme Court Collegium recommends appointment of Justice SV Gangapurwala as Chief Justice of Madras High Court

Born in 1962, Justice Gangapurwala began his practice as a lawyer in 1985 with the chambers of advocate S N Loya.

He was an advocate for financial institutions such as Central Bank of India, Bombay Mercantile Cooperative Bank, Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank as well as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.

Justice Gangapurwala represented the government before Justice Mane Commission on the riots in Maharashtra in 1999.

He was elevated as the judge of Bombay High Court on March 13, 2010, and thereafter appointed as acting Chief Justice of Bombay High Court on December 11, 2022.
