A special bench of Justices BR Gavai, AS Bopanna and Dipankar Datta sought the response of the Gujarat government in the matter and posted the case for final disposal on July 19, the next date of hearing.
Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who appeared with Solicitor General Tushar Mehta for the Gujarat government, told the top court that they needed time to translate some documents.
Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Setalvad, asked that the matter be heard urgently.
