Supreme Court grants protection from arrest to OpIndia Editor Nupur Sharma, CEO Rahul Roushan in TN Police FIR

A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha ordered that no coercive action be taken against Sharma and Roushan for four weeks.

The Court, however, said that it will not consider the prayer to quash the case and the petitioners can approach the relevant jurisdictional High Court for the same.

“We cannot entertain the question of quashing, since petitioner has efficacious alternate remedy under Section 482 of Code of Criminal Procedure. However we direct no coercive steps be taken against petitioner for 4 weeks,” the Court ordered.
