Supreme Court stays UP court direction to Azam Khan to send voice sample for 2007 hate speech case trial

Earlier on July 25, the Allahabad High Court had refused to interfere with the trial court order leading to the appeal before the top court. The appeal by Khan was filed through advocate Lzafeer Ahmad BF.

The case was slated to be heard in the trial court later today.

The case involves a speech made at a public meeting in Rampur in August 2007, which was allegedly offensive to a particular community.

The High Court had observed that the only argument by Khan was that the electronic evidence was not certified as per Section 65B of the Indian Evidence Act, which could be done even later.
