The Court was hearing pleas concerning extension of the tenure of the members of the State Consumer Redressal Commissions.
One of the pleas was filed by a retired District Judge who was later appointed as member of Bihar State Consumer Redressal Commission.
Besides tenure extension, the plea also raised the issue of pay anomaly.
While a bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha refuse to entertain the prayer regarding tenure, it agreed to consider the issue with respect to salary.
“Salary issue we will deal with separately but no tenure extension…the first prayer to let him continue as member of Bihar state consumer commission is dismissed. On the salary issue, we will take up the matter on December 8, 2022,” the Court said.
