Advocate Jitesh Duhilani, legal aid lawyer provided to Singh, informed the Court that Singh came to know from newspaper reports that the government was providing security to RSS office situated in Nagpur despite it being an ‘unregistered NGO’.
He argued that the Deputy Police Commissioner of Nagpur (Special Branch), informed Singh that the concerned wing of police has been exempted from providing information under the RTI Act and hence, the information sought could be provided.
On December 26, 2021, the assistant police inspector (API) Traffic, MIDC, Nagpur city police sent a notice to Singh summoning him for inquiry about his RTI application and recording of his statement.
This notice was assailed by Singh, who also added that if security was being provided to a non-government organisation with State funds, a citizen has the right to seek information about the same.
