The grievance against the communication was raised by a University employee, Subrata Mazumdar, in a writ petition before the High Court.
The communication from the Human Resources Department of the University asked the employees to go on leave without pay with immediate effect, till they individually provide documentary proof of having completed COVID-19 vaccination.
As Mazumdar had medical conditions due to which he could not get vaccinated, he was made to go on unpaid leave. His plea not only sought quashing of the communication, but also for his reinstatement to service.
