While Karandlaje’s counsel told the Court that the BJP leader had already apologised for the statement and expressed regret on X, Justice Jayachandran was not sure if such an apology was adequate.
The judge went on to observe that the apology on X probably will not suffice because not many people were on X. The judge said that he himself did not have an account on X.
The judge also said that public personalities must be more conscious while making statements.
“Persons in power should know what is happening. Imagine if someone from the lower level sees and interprets her remarks differently. What would happen?” Justice Jayachandran said.
The High Court granted ten days to Karandlaje’s counsel to get instructions on whether or not was she willing to hold such press conference.
