New Delhi, Apr 25 (PTI) The Kiran Nadar Museum of Art and the National Crafts Museum (KNMA) will host the ‘Art Hours’ workshop series, aiming to making accessible the techniques behind India’s intricate textile traditions.
The two-day workshop series, to be held on April 28 at the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy here, will highlight textile traditions from across the country including Gond art from Bhopal, Sikki grass weaving from Bihar, and Telia Rumal from Andhra Pradesh.
“The collaboration is planned as an extension of the museum’s efforts to take art outside of the museum space, making it accessible and offering the public another innovative way to engage with and celebrate India’s vibrant cultural and artistic heritage,” the organisers said in a statement.
Some of the nation’s foremost artisans and textile designers, including Agrima Wadhwa and Meghavi Sharma, will also lead the workshops on Shibori dyeing, eco botanical printing, and punch embroidery.
In addition to the workshops, group yoga sessions by Mini Shashtri, an interactive tour of the museum’s textile archives with craft revivalist Bindu Manchanda, a walkthrough and conversation on Telia Rumal and Ikat with fashion designers David Abraham and Rakesh Thakore will also be organised.
The workshop series will come to an end on April 29 with an open performance jam session on the occasion of World Dance Day, organised in collaboration with ‘Friends of ART’. PTI MAH RDS RDS
