Lucknow, Sep 26 (PTI) In view of the accident that claimed 10 lives on Monday, the district administration here is mulling counselling the tractor-trolley drivers operating in rural areas in order to prevent such incidents in future.
In a statement issued here, the Lucknow district administration said, “In view of the accident, and keeping in mind that a large number of people make a visit (to religious places) on tractor-trolleys.” “Counselling of tractor-trolley drivers operating in the rural areas should be done, so that they do not travel with excess number of passengers and follow the traffic rules, and such sad incidents are not repeated in future,” it read.
DM Surya Pal Gangwar instructed the Public Works Department (PWD) officials to ensure that all the roads are surveyed, especially those on which the devotees move.
Priority should be given to restoring the side lane of those roads, which are located near ponds and gorges, and the roads on which the tractor-trolleys move, they should be made pothole-free, the DM said.
He instructed that all the lekhpals and revenue inspectors should inspect all the roads.
Ten people were killed while 37 were injured when the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a pond here on Monday, a senior district official said.
