2008 Bengaluru blasts: Supreme Court refuses Karnataka’s request to retain public prosecutor in case of government change

A bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and Bela M Trivedi was requested by Additional Advocate General Nikhil Goel to retain the public prosecutor in light of upcoming legislative assembly elections in the Karnataka.

He said that if the government in Karnataka changes, so will the prosecutor in the case, which could lead to delay in the trial.

However, the bench refused to accede to the request, stating that it was for the prosecutor to take the stance.
