Goodbye Twitter: Elon Musk rebrands Twitter logo to X

Following through with his plans to turn Twitter into the Everything app, Musk has officially rebranded the platform to X.

Twitter owner Elon Musk has officially rebranded and introduced a new Twitter logo called X. He announced the move through a tweet that read, ‘And soon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.’

Musk created a poll asking users whether the platform’s default colour should be changed to black. In April 2023, Twitter Inc. merged with X Corp and Musk had maintained that the end goal of the acquisition would be pacing the development of the everything app ‘X’.

As the bird app prepares to shed its feathers, he declared that X.com now directs visitors to Twitter.com. CEO Linda Yaccarino also highlighted their plans for X’s transformation saying it will be powered by AI.

With the interim Twitter logo taking over the official handles, one of the legacy blue bird’s designers Martin Grasser tweeted that the logo was meant to be simple, balanced and legible at very small sizes. He further shared the story of creating the logo.

On the other hand, the letter ‘X’ has been a trademark for Musk. X.com was the original name for Paypal and the letter is also visible in Musk’s SpaceX and Tesla SUV.

Back in April, the platform’s blue bird was temporarily replaced by Dogecoin’s Shiba Inu dog, helping drive a surge in the cryptocurrency’s market value, as reported by Reuters.
