Meta’s new AI model, SeamlessM4T, can translate and transcribe languages through speech and text.
Meta’s SeamlessM4T released on 22 August, 2023 and is a form of universal translator in up to 100 languages.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced it on the Meta channel. He said the plan is to integrate these developments in “translation and transcription into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and Threads.”
Meta describes it as “the first all-in-one multimodal and multilingual AI translation model”. This model can work in 100 different languages as input, and can interpret speech and text languages, and respond back with an output of about 35 languages including English. The model can also detect language change and work accordingly.
