About the Conference

Government Law College, Ernakulam, is the first Law College in Kerala founded in 1874 in the heart of the Metropolitan city of Kochi. The conference is being organized by the Law Journal Club of Government Law College, Ernakulam, conjointly with College Union 2023-24 and Bhagat Singh Study Circle, GLCE. The programme will be held at Government Law College Ernakulam, Marine Drive, Ernakulam, Kerala, on 29,30 and 31 of May, 2024.

This conference is a pivotal intellectual forum that will delve into multifaceted topics under the main theme “The Constitution in a Changing India. ” It will present a vibrant platform for enthusiasts from the legal fraternity to engage in thought-provoking discussions.

While exploring the impact of globalization, technological advancements, and emerging challenges, the conference aims to foster innovative solutions, ethical frameworks for technological advancements, and a comprehensive understanding of constitutional goals and aspirations.

Theme

Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, Research Scholars, Academicians, Lawyers and Professionals are eligible to submit their research papers on the following themes:

Theme 1: Adapting the Constitution to India’s Evolving Landscape

  • Federalism in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities.
  • Fundamental Rights in the Digital Age: Balancing Rights and Responsibilities
  • Constitutional Interpretation in a Diverse Society: Navigating Ambiguity and Contention.

Theme 2: Emerging Challenges and the Constitution’s Adaptation

  • Climate Change and Environmental Justice: Integrating Environmental Values into the Constitution
  • Technological Advancements and Constitutional Dilemmas: Regulating Emerging Technologies
  • Inequality and Social Justice: Rethinking Constitutional Goals and Aspirations

Note: Participants are at liberty to choose any topic within the above provided themes. Sub-themes listed above are only indicative. It is not mandatory that participants must choose a topic within the sub-themes.

Submission Guidelines

  • The abstract with a word count of 250-500 words is to be attached with the registration form.
  • The keywords are restricted to 05(five) and the same will not count towards the word limit.
  • All submissions shall be in English and .Docx format (Word file) only. The paper should be typed in MS-Word Document format, Times NewRoman, font size 12 & 1.5 spaced. The main heading must be bold with a font size of 14.
  • The footnotes must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 10 & 1 spaced.
  • Citation followed should be Blue-Book 21st edition.
  • Only selected abstracts will be permitted for submission as full paper and for the presentation at the conference.
  • Full paper submission must have 1500 to 2500 words, excluding the footnotes, abstract and keywords.
  • The cover page shall include the title of the paper, name, designation, address, e-mail ID, contact number, and the name of the college/firm/university, along with the address of the authors.
  • In case of co-authorship,the cover page shall include details of both authors.
  • Co-authorship is permitted to a maximum of two authors.
  • Plagiarism up to 20% including the citations is permitted and the AI usage must be limited to 5%.
  • Neither any part of the submission should have been published earlier nor should it be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • The full paper submission must be accompanied by the abstract, followed by the keywords. It must be submitted at the submission link provided at the end of this post.

  • Communication of abstract acceptance: April 17
  • Full paper submission: May 15
  • Communication of full acceptance: May 20
  • Conference and Paper Presentation: May 29,30,31.

Certification

  • Certificates of presentation will be awarded to all the paper presenters.
  • In case of co-authorship, the certificate will be issued to both authors.
  • Certificates of participation will be awarded to all the participants.

Publication Policy

  • Every submitted paper will be reviewed by the editorial board. After final review, selected papers will be published in the form of a book with an ISBN.
  • All the submissions must be original and should not have been published or under consideration for publication.
  • Plagiarized entries will be rejected.
  • There must not be any copyright issues with the paper sent for publication purposes, and if any such issues are later discovered, the Publisher shall not be responsible in any way.
  • The editors reserve the right to delete or edit any article or part thereof, whose content is found to be offensive, defamatory, unethical, or supports racism, sexual or religious discrimination, illegal or terror activities, etc.
