How did you Apply?

I sought the internship opportunity at Kilpar following a recommendation from my classmate, Supreeth Nag Hegde, who had successfully completed his internship there in the previous semester. Recognizing the significance of his endorsement, I proactively applied through a dual approach. In order to present a comprehensive application, I sent a hard copy via post, providing a tangible expression of my interest and qualifications.

Concurrently, I submitted an electronic version via email to ensure a prompt and convenient delivery of my resume. This combined utilization of traditional and modern application methods was aimed at demonstrating my commitment and eagerness to secure an internship at Kilpar. The referral from Supreeth Nag Hegde, along with a meticulously crafted application, underscores my sincere intention to contribute to and glean valuable experiences from the opportunities provided by Kilpar.

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

On my first day at the government facility, the sheer grandeur of the 22-story building housing the office left a lasting impression. The extensive infrastructure provided all necessary facilities, reflecting its status as a government institution. However, the lack of Wi-Fi and access to essential online platforms like SCC Online posed a slight inconvenience.

Nevertheless, the thorough tour of the facility offered valuable insights into its operations and layout. The initial interaction with our mentor, Dr. Revaiah Odeyar, and the Research Head (Parliamentary), along with Sri K. Dwarakanath Babu, the Director, set a positive tone for the internship.

We explored the intricacies of the lawmaking process, drawing connections to the Constitution of India. This foundational session laid the groundwork for our internship tasks, indicating a promising beginning to what would become a rewarding and educational experience.

Main Tasks

During the internship, my main responsibility is to attain a thorough comprehension of the lawmaking process. This entails delving into the complexities of how laws are conceptualized, drafted, debated, and ultimately enacted. Recognizing the importance of understanding the roles played by different stakeholders, including governmental bodies, legislative entities, and advocacy groups, is vital for grasping the intricacies of the legal landscape.

Additionally, my objective is to gain insights into the operations of various organizations, particularly those involved in administration, to understand their contributions to the seamless functioning of society.

By examining the interplay between lawmaking processes and the operational dynamics of diverse organizations, my aim is to cultivate a nuanced perspective on the legal and administrative elements that contribute to a well-organized society. This hands-on experience is anticipated to enhance my knowledge and provide practical insights into the intricate workings of the legal and administrative domains.

Work Environment

The work atmosphere at the government institution is characterized by a tangible sense of professionalism and a dedicated commitment to the intricacies of legal and administrative processes. The office’s location in a substantial 22-story building underscores the significance and breadth of the institution’s work.

Although the lack of Wi-Fi and access to specific online platforms presents a challenge, the overall infrastructure is well-equipped to facilitate the organization’s essential functions. The initial interaction session on the first day with our mentor, Dr. Revaiah Odeyar, and key personnel, including the Research Head (Parliamentary) and the Director, established a positive tone.

The emphasis on comprehending the lawmaking process and understanding the operations of diverse organizations aligns with the overarching objective of contributing to the effective functioning of society. The environment encourages curiosity and active participation, fostering a conducive setting for learning and professional development. As the internship progresses, the work environment is poised to offer a rewarding and enlightening experience in the realms of law and administration.

Good Things

One noteworthy positive aspect of the internship lies in the practical exposure facilitated by the institute. Beyond the intricate learning involved in the lawmaking process, the institute has thoughtfully incorporated a valuable element: a one-day internship with esteemed entities such as the Consumer Forum, Lokayukta, Human Rights Commission, Law Commission, and Law Committee.

This initiative underscores the institute’s dedication to providing interns with a comprehensive understanding of the legal landscape through firsthand experiences in diverse areas of the legal system. Such opportunities not only enrich theoretical knowledge but also allow interns to observe the practical application of laws and regulations in various domains.

This holistic approach to learning significantly contributes to fostering a nuanced and comprehensive understanding of the legal processes and institutions that shape our legal system.

Bad Things

Although the overall internship experience is positive, it’s crucial to highlight the challenges stemming from the lack of SCC Online and Wi-Fi availability. These limitations may potentially impede the smooth execution of tasks reliant on online resources and connectivity.

The absence of these tools might create inconvenience in accessing vital legal databases and conducting thorough research. However, it’s essential to recognize that these challenges also present opportunities for interns to cultivate resourcefulness and adaptability when navigating such constraints.

Despite these limitations, the internship’s positive aspects, including practical exposure and comprehensive learning opportunities, significantly contribute to a well-rounded and enriching experience.

Stipend

Even though the internship doesn’t come with a stipend, the inclusion of an internship certificate and the opportunity for interns to participate in a competition, with the potential to receive a gift as a token of appreciation for exceptional performance, introduces a commendable aspect of recognition and reward.

The acknowledgment of the best presenter with a gift underscores the institution’s dedication to valuing and motivating interns for their efforts and contributions. While there is no monetary compensation, the emphasis on recognition and skill development through competitions is a positive element that cultivates a sense of accomplishment and drive among interns. The overall experience, coupled with such initiatives, contributes to a comprehensive and gratifying internship.
