Participating in the competition organized by Kilpar was a captivating experience that fueled my interest in the organization. Impressed by its ethos and activities, I decided to take the initiative and applied for an internship opportunity.

To ensure a comprehensive application, I submitted both a hard copy via post and an electronic version through email, including my resume to showcase my qualifications and enthusiasm for contributing to Kilpar’s mission.

This proactive approach not only demonstrated my genuine interest in the organization but also showcased my dedication to pursuing opportunities that align with my aspirations and values. I look forward to the possibility of contributing to Kilpar’s initiatives and furthering my professional growth through this potential internship opportunity

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

On my first day at the government institute, the sheer grandeur of the 22-floor building housing the office left a lasting impression. The extensive infrastructure offered all necessary facilities, reflective of its status as a government institution.

However, the absence of Wi-Fi and access to essential online platforms like SCC Online posed a minor inconvenience. Despite this, the comprehensive tour of the institute provided valuable insights into its functions and layout. The initial interaction session with our mentor, Dr. Revaiah Odeyar, and the Research Head (Parliamentary), along with Shree K. Dwarakanath Babu, the Director, set a positive tone for the internship.

We delved into the intricacies of the lawmaking process, connecting it to the Constitution of India. This foundational session laid the groundwork for our internship tasks, marking a promising beginning to what would be a rich and educational experience.

Main Tasks

My primary task during the internship is to acquire a comprehensive understanding of the lawmaking process. This involves delving into the intricacies of how laws are conceptualized, drafted, debated, and eventually enacted. Understanding the roles of various stakeholders, including governmental bodies, legislative bodies, and advocacy groups, is crucial to appreciating the complexity of the legal landscape.

Additionally, I aim to gain insights into the functioning of different organizations, particularly those involved in the administration, to comprehend how they contribute to the smooth functioning of society.

By exploring the interplay between lawmaking processes and the operational dynamics of various organizations, my goal is to develop a nuanced perspective on the legal and administrative aspects that contribute to a well-ordered society. This hands-on experience will undoubtedly deepen my knowledge and provide practical insights into the intricate workings of the legal and administrative realms.

Work Environment

The work environment at the government institute is characterized by a palpable sense of professionalism and a commitment to the intricacies of the legal and administrative processes. The office’s location in a substantial 22-floor building reflects the significance and scope of the institution’s work. While the absence of Wi-Fi and access to certain online platforms poses a challenge, the overall infrastructure is well-equipped to facilitate the essential functions of the organization.

The first-day interaction session with our mentor, Dr. Revaiah Odeyar, and key personnel, including the Research Head (Parliamentary) and the Director, set a positive tone. The emphasis on understanding the lawmaking process and the functioning of various organizations aligns with the overarching goal of contributing to a smoothly running society.

The atmosphere encourages curiosity and engagement, fostering a conducive environment for learning and professional development. As the internship progresses, the work environment is poised to provide a rich and enlightening experience in the realms of law and administration.

Good things

One of the notable positive aspects of the internship is the practical exposure provided by the institute. In addition to learning the intricate process of lawmaking, the institute has thoughtfully incorporated a valuable component—a one-day internship with various esteemed entities such as the Consumer Forum, Lokayukta, Human Rights Commission, Law Commission, and Law Committee.

This initiative demonstrates a commitment to providing interns with a holistic understanding of the legal landscape by offering firsthand experiences in diverse areas of the legal system. Such opportunities not only enhance theoretical knowledge but also allow interns to witness the practical application of laws and regulations in different domains.

This well-rounded approach to learning contributes significantly to a comprehensive and nuanced understanding of the legal processes and institutions that shape our legal system.

Bad Things

While the overall internship experience appears positive, it’s worth noting the challenges presented by the unavailability of SCC Online and Wi-Fi. These limitations could potentially hinder the seamless execution of tasks that rely on online resources and connectivity.

The absence of these tools may pose some inconvenience in accessing essential legal databases and conducting thorough research. However, it’s important to acknowledge that these challenges can also be seen as opportunities for interns to develop resourcefulness and adaptability in navigating such constraints.

Despite these limitations, the positive aspects of the internship, including the practical exposure and the comprehensive learning opportunities, seem to contribute significantly to a well-rounded and enriching experience.

Stipend

While the internship doesn’t include a stipend, the provision of an internship certificate and the opportunity for competition among interns, with the chance to receive a gift as a token of appreciation for outstanding performance, adds a commendable element of recognition and reward.

The acknowledgement of the best presenter through a gift reinforces the institution’s commitment to appreciating and encouraging interns’ efforts and contributions.

While monetary compensation is absent, the emphasis on recognition and skill development through competitions is a positive aspect that fosters a sense of achievement and motivation among interns. The overall experience, coupled with such initiatives, contributes to a well-rounded and rewarding internship.
