“Complete anarchy”: Why Supreme Court was miffed by its registry

When the matter was taken up for hearing today, the counsel for the appellant informed the bench of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah that the matter has been referred to Lok Adalat and he had received notice of the same to be listed on July 19.

The Court expressing its surprise at such referral.

“How can service matter be sent to Lok Adalat? Have you informed that you have criminal antecedents,” Justice Dhulia asked.

The advocate for appellant then said that he had circulated a letter to the Supreme Court registry and they then referred the matter to Lok Adalat.

To this, a miffed Justice Amanullah orally remarked,

“How can Supreme Court registry do that? This is complete anarchy. We will call the registry then.”
