Himachal Pradesh High Court seeks Kangana Ranaut response to plea challenging her Lok Sabha election

Negi, a former forest department employee, says that he took early retirement and provided a “no dues certificate” from the department along with his nomination papers to the returning officer.

However, he was given one day to produce no dues certificates from the electricity, water and telephone departments. Even when he submitted these, the returning officer did not accept his nomination papers.

Claiming that he could have won the election if his papers had been accepted, Negi has prayed that the election be annulled.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ranaut won the Mandi seat by defeating Congress candidate Vikramaditya Singh by 74,755 votes.
