Man held, 2 juveniles apprehended for firing outside Mandoli jail official’s house in Delhi

New Delhi, Jun 30 (PTI) The police have arrested a 20-year-old man and apprehended two juveniles for allegedly firing shots targeting the house of a senior Mandoli jail official in west Delhi’s Hirankudna village, officials said on Thursday.

Shubham Baliyan, a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, along with the two juveniles were apprehended after a brief exchange of fire near Holambi Khurd village on Wednesday, they said.

During the encounter, three rounds were fired — two by the accused and one by the police, officials said.

According to the police, the trio had fired outside the house of the assistant superintendent of Mandoli jail here to intimidate him as the official had allegedly rebuked Yudhvir alias Kala Pandit, brother of one of the juveniles, lodged in Mandoli jail.

The juvenile wanted to teach the official a lesson for allegedly humiliating his brother in jail, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Jasmeet Singh said on Wednesday, information was received that Subham and his juvenile associate would come on a robbed bike from Holambi Khurd to meet another juvenile.

“When Shubham along with his juvenile associate arrived, the trio were surrounded by police who asked them to surrender. However, Shubham and one of the juveniles started firing towards the police team,” he said.

In self defense, the police team retaliated and overpowered them. Finally, they were nabbed and disarmed,” he added. One robbed bike from Kundli area of Haryana’s Sonipat district was also recovered from them, police said.

The bike was robbed by them on gunpoint. The same gun was used during firing incident at the jail official’s house, they added. PTI AMP AMP TDS TDS TDS
