New Delhi: Lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan tweeted a morphed image Tuesday, which put BJP’s presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in the same frame.
Claiming Murmu had visited the RSS headquarters in Nagpur, Bhushan wrote: “Is there any doubt that she will just be a rubber stamp and not be able to function independently?”
Fact-check: The fake image was created by morphing two photographs from separate events.
Bhagwat’s photograph was taken at the RSS’ Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha in March, while Murmu’s snap was from an event two years ago when Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren completed one year in office. Murmu was Jharkhand Governor from 2015-19.
Murmu’s picture appears to have been cropped and added to the image featuring Bhagwat. Both original images seemed to have been rotated 180 degrees.
Below are the original images:
Many social media users – believing the image to be authentic — widely shared the now-deleted post on platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.

Have we got any more doubts as to where we are being led from?

Not the first time
Last year too, the Supreme Court advocate had come under fire after his tweet on the efficacy and safety of Covid-19 vaccines was flagged as “misleading” by Twitter.
Bhushan claimed the younger population had a higher chance of dying due to vaccines. He
tweeted: “The healthy young have hardly any chance of serious effects or dying due to covid. They have a higher chance of dying due to vaccines.” “The covid recovered have
much better natural immunity, than the vaccine gives them. Vaccines may even compromise their acquired natural immunity,” he added.
