Army unfurls national flag atop 75-foot-tall pole in HP’s Dharamshala

Shimla, Aug 2 (PTI) The Army on Tuesday unfurled a national flag atop a 75-foot-tall flagpole in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamshala as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence, officials said.

Lt Gen Pushpendra Singh, General Officer Commanding of the Rising Star Corps, hoisted the monumental national flag in the presence of Maj Gen MP Singh, GOC, Dah Division, Maj Gen (retired) Ashim Kohli, head of Flag Foundation of India, and other dignitaries.

A drill by NCC cadets showcased the pride of the local youth associated with the tricolour, a Jammu-based defence public relations officer (PRO) said.

The GOC of the Rising Star Corps addressed the gathering and appealed to all citizens to take a pledge for the integrity, prosperity and security of the country. PTI DJI AB NB SMN
