Instagram reels are set to get an update that will extend the duration of reels for up to ten minutes. As of now, the platform allows users to create 90-second reels.
This could help the app make short-form videos more engaging for the users so that they would spend more time scrolling through the content available. This update was shared by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi who shared a picture as reference.
This will give content creators flexibility when it comes to making various kinds of content such as beauty, comedic skits, educational videos and more. Similarly, TikTok has also been looking to increase the duration of its videos while YouTube Music has introduced its short-form video feature called Samples.
