Bar Council of India supports PIL in Delhi High Court to conduct CLAT in regional languages

The BCI’s affidavit was filed in response to a plea by a law student, Sudhanshu Pathak who approached the High Court demanding that CLAT 2024 be held in Hindi and other regional languages.

Pathak argued that holding the exam only in English causes gross injustice to students who pursued a non-English medium education.

“CLAT discriminates against and fails to provide a level playing field to the students belonging to educational backgrounds rooted in regional languages. In a hyper-competitive paper, they are linguistically disempowered as they have to surpass the additional hurdle of learning and mastering a new language,” Pathak said in his plea.
