Call for Book Chapters: Legal Research In The Era Of Technological Advancement by Bennett University: Submit by Sept 12

Bennett University is making a call for submissions in the form of chapters for a book titled “Legal Research In The Era Of Technological Advancement: Opportunities, Challenges, And The Way Forward”.

About School of Law, Bennett University

Bennett University has been established by the ‘Times Group’, India’s largest media conglomerate through Act No. 24 of 2016 passed by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Bennett University established the School of Law with a vision to strive for excellence in teaching, research, and advocacy toward Justice for all by shaping thought leaders in public policy of National and International dimensions.

The school at present is offering B.A.LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) and Ph.D. courses and imbibes the best practices of national and international law schools in terms of curriculum, pedagogy, innovation in teaching methods and to add new interfaces addressing emerging new issues.

About the Book

Technological advancement has significantly impacted every aspect of human life and legal research is not an exception to it.

As the fumes of technology-based websites, e-libraries, apps, etc. spread across the globe, it brought a revolution in the legal education sector. The advancement of technology and easy availability of data has equipped the research to reach its zenith.

Simultaneously, the use of technology in legal research has its own shortcomings. With this background, School of Law, Bennett University invites papers in the form of call for chapters for an edited book, titled “Legal Research In The Era Of Technological Advancement: Opportunities, Challenges, And The Way Forward” which aims to investigate the impact of technological advancement on legal research.

The book will be published by a reputed publishing house. Efforts will be made by this edited book to identify and investigate the opportunities available for the advancement of legal research and the challenges that the present legal research system is facing due to technical advancement.

This book will serve as an opportunity for academicians, teachers, researchers, and practitioners to respond to the emergent necessitate for new insights and perspectives to get better legal research policy and practice in the era of technology.

Suggested Sub-Themes

Scholars are invited to choose any one of the sub-themes of the proposed and send your valuable research paper:

  1. Development of the legal research methodology, 
  2. Use of technology in legal research, 
  3. Legal research in the era of artificial intelligence, 
  4. Dimensions and scope of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary legal research, 
  5. Jurimetrics, 
  6. Importance of literature review in research, 
  7. Plagiarism in legal research, 
  8. Empirical legal research, 
  9. Effects of COVID-19 on legal research, 
  10. Challenges of legal research in the era of pre & post COVID-19, 
  11. Contemporary issues and perspectives of legal research, 
  12. Legal research and online legal database/open access database, 
  13. Legal research v. Academic freedom, 
  14. Identifying new tools for data collection during COVID-19, and, or 
  15. Any other connected sub-theme. 

Submission Guidleines

  1. Final and complete papers for 4000-5000 words to be submitted within the stipulated deadline. You are not required to submit abstracts. Please note abstracts which are not accompanied by full papers that would be summarily rejected.
  2. Formatting and Presentation Guidelines:
    Please note that papers not abiding by the guidelines below would be summarily rejected.
    • The footnotes and references should follow SILC format in order to maintain uniformity across submissions. Details on the format may be obtained from the website, http://silcmanual.com/ 
    • Use Times New Roman font with font size of 12 and line spacing of 1.5. 
    • All references should be footnoted in Times New Roman font size 10 and line spacing of 1.0. 
    • Candidates must ascertain the plagiarism by themselves and papers must be submitted with a plagiarism report. The extent of plagiarism in the submissions must not exceed 10% . 
    • Submissions should include the name of the author(s);  designation; institution; email address of the authors.
    • Speaking footnotes are allowed, though heavy usage of speaking footnotes is discouraged. Use of endnotes is not allowed. . 
    • All submissions must be in .doc, word or .docx format. Submissions made in .pdf format or in any other formats shall not be considered. 
    • Number of Authors: The paper can be co-authored. However, a maximum of two authors is allowed. 
    • All contributions and correspondence should be addressed to ‘The Editors, Legal Research In an era of technological advancement: Opportunities, Challenges, and the way forward.’ 
    • The manuscript should be accompanied by the author’s name, designation, institute, contact number, and e-mail for future reference. 
  3. All submissions must be the original and unpublished works of the author(s). The contributions shall be evaluated on the basis of originality, innovativeness, clarity, and technical correctness. 
  4. Preference would be given to the submissions made pertaining to the themes and sub-themes given. 
  5. In case of reference to unpublished works, the author shall be deemed to have obtained the permission of the referred author. 
  6. All contributions to the book are peer-reviewed by its expert advisory board subject to the editorial approval and test of plagiarism. 
  7. Plagiarism in any form shall result in instant rejection of the submission. 
  8. Submissions will be checked in Turnitin Similarity Index and should not exceed 10% similarity including footnotes. 
  9. Verbatim reproduction of legal provisions, judgments, and other legal sources should be avoided to the maximum possible extent. 
  10. The Editors of the book shall not be responsible for any material that is libelous or scandalous. 
  11. The decisions of the Editors in all the matters above are final and binding.
