Call for Chapters for Edited Book Titled Prison System and Administration in India- Some Reflections [No Publication Charges]: Submit by July 25

Call for Chapters are invited for Edited Book Titled Prison System and Administration in India- Some Reflections for the year 2024.

About the Title

Method of punishment is reflective of the penological affiliation of the state, guided by the respective constitutional values. Prison, being one of the most important of such methods, involves crucial issues inter alia prisoner’s rights, constitutional protections, reformation and deterrence, success of which must be analyzed based upon the objectives of such punishment achieved.

The legislative strength of a state is utilized in designing rudimentary regulation and manuals to regulate prison governance in the most effective manner, and to effectuate such measure throughexecutive power, still the irregularities that are ever-evolving, attract concerns in a civilized society, which motivate the stakeholder to find out suitable solutions, may be in the form of reforms.

While corruption, harassment both physical and psychological, differential treatment, undue access to luxuries and many other issues are posing challenges, the new initiatives, positive efforts, technological advancements are providing rays of hope. Positive attitude of active Judiciary, especially of the higher courts – as a savior of Human Rights, has proven to be revolutionary while evolving prisoner’s rights jurisprudence, particularly in India.

About the Call for Chapters

This ‘call for chapters’ aims to systematically accumulate the contemporary thoughts and concerns on prison system in India from subject area experts- who are expected to exercise their academic liberty within the domain and to suggest the effective solutions addressing such concerns, if possible. The proposed book is thought to inter alia showcase such concerns before the civil society and to serve as a base for designing policies, initiating executive actions and for further academic research.

Who can Submit?

The target audience of the book includes but is not limited to law students, academicians, scholars, researchers, law professionals.

Some of the suggestive themes are mentioned below:

Please note that the abovementioned themes are purely suggestive in nature. Authors are expected to exercise their academic liberty in selecting a suitable topic within the broad ambit of the title.

Submission & Formatting Guidelines

  • Word limit for a complete chapter shall range between 5000-8000 words excluding footnotes, tables, figures, abstracts, citations and references.
  • Co-authorship of a maximum of three persons is permitted.
  • Submissions must be made in Times New Roman, Font Size 12, Foot Note 10, Spacing 1.5, Margins: Left 1 Inch, Right 1 Inch, Top 1 Inch, and Bottom 1 Inch.
  • Authors are requested to strictly adhere to Bluebook (20th Ed.) for Citation Style.
  • The author(s) bear(s) sole responsibility for accuracy of facts, opinions or views stated in the submitted Manuscript.
  • Copyright of all chapters shall remain with the Editors.
  • All moral rights shall vest with the author(s).
  • The Papers will be checked through anti-plagiarism software and plagiarism more than the permissible limit by the University Grant Commission Rules shall not be entertained.
  • Submission shall be made at acadauthors@gmail.com only.

Publication

The edited book will be published by reputed publisher bearing ISBN number with NO PUBLICATION CHARGES.
