SAMA and Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority are inviting applications from law students to act as Mediators and Case Managers for Online Lok Adalat.
About the Opportunity
The Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority, in conjunction with SAMA as technology facilitator, is organising an Online Lok Adalat tentative to be held from February 20th – March 20th.
It’s worth noting that DE JURE (Data and Evidence for justice reform, part of the World Bank Group ) is closely working with Sama as a knowledge partner to evaluate the effectiveness of Online Lok Adalats in India and conduct an impact assessment of this project on all stakeholders. It will be a great opportunity to be a part of the same.
You will gain first-hand dispute resolution experience and help bring tangible change to society while working with Sama and the Maharashtra State Legal Services Authority. The World Bank Group is also participating in this project as an independent evaluator for the effectiveness of Online Lok Adalats.
Who can Apply as Mediators?
- Practicing advocates, Accredited and experienced Mediators, who can devote time and dedication to the access to justice cause.
- Applicants who are fluent in Marathi or Hindi will be preferred and must possess a laptop with stable internet connection.
The 4-week commitment is expected to commence on February 20th, 2022 for Mediators.
Who can Apply as Case Managers?
- All Law Students, recent graduates, practicing Advocates, who can devote time and dedication to the access to justice cause.
- Applicants who are fluent in Marathi or Hindi will be preferred and must possess a laptop with stable internet connection.
The 4-week commitment is expected to commence on February 20th, 2022 for Case Managers.
Work Description
Mediators and case manager positions will be allotted to applicants on a first-come-first-serve basis. The role would require them to work on matters involving loans, family disputes, Bank Matters, Motor Accident Claims, Cheque Bounce cases, etc.
Case Managers will be required to coordinate between Mediators and Litigants.
Please note that only those Mediators will be empanelled for this project who have:
- previously taken up Mediation/Conciliation cases, or
- Have been practicing in Court, or
- Are an accredited mediator.
Incentives
- Top 3 Mediators from this Maharashtra Online Lok Adalat will be rewarded
- Rs. 15,000
- Rs. 9,000
- Rs 6,000 respectively
- Top 3 Case Managers will be rewarded
- Rs. 5,000
- Rs. 3,000
- Rs. 2,000, respectively
- Case Managers and Mediators will be provided with experience certificates at the end of the engagement.
- Well performing case managers will be given a chance to be a part of the core team in the next Online Lok Adalat.
