About Vinayaka Mission’s Law School

Vinayaka Mission’s Law School (VMLS) invites scholars, practitioners, and experts to submit their papers for the International Conference on Rivers.

This conference, scheduled from 18th to 19th October 2024, aims to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue on the multifaceted issues concerning river governance and management. The conference will take place at VMLS, Chennai.

Aims and Scope of the International Conference

Rivers are integral to ecosystems, economies, and cultures worldwide, and their governance is shaped by a confluence of political, social, economic, and legal factors. This conference aims to address the socio-legal dimensions critical for sustainable river management by fostering dialogue among a diverse group of stakeholders.

The event will provide a platform to explore the complexities of river governance from local to global perspectives.

Themes and Sub-Themes

We welcome abstracts and full-length quality research papers on the broad theme of Rivers. The below mentioned are few sub themes which may be considered. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list of topics. You are welcome to submit abstracts on any topic of your interest as long as it falls within an area of concern on River.

  1. Historical Narratives and River Security:

  7. Aligning River Policies with Sustainable Development Goals:
    • Progress towards achieving SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) for river management.
    • Challenges and future directions in sustainable river governance.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstract Submission: Authors should submit an abstract of 250-300 words, including the title, keywords, author(s) names, and affiliation via email to riverconf2024@vmls.edu.in by 15th August 2024. The abstract should be coherent and free of grammatical errors. Kindly note that the abstract submission deadline has been extended to 15th August 2024.
  • Full Paper Submission: Upon selection, authors must submit their full papers by 30th September 2024. The papers should follow the APA citation style, with the main text in Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 line spacing, and footnotes in size 10 with 1.0 line spacing. Kindly note that the paper submission deadline has been extended to 8th October 2024.
