Double-sided A4 pages for filings: Delhi High Court seeks status report from Registrar General, Central government

The High Court was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) petition filed by a think tank, the Centre for Accountability and Systemic Change.

During arguments, the Court was informed that through a notification issued in March 2020, the High Court had directed uniform use of A4 size paper for all kind of pleadings contained in petitions, affidavits, applications or other documents etc, and all memorandum of appeals, orders and judgments in the Delhi High Court as well as District Courts in the national capital

The Court was also told that even the Supreme Court has resolved to use double-side printed papers and therefore, it is time that the similar practise is adopted in all courts.

“The Government should issue a circular to all High Courts four use of A4 size sheet of adequate quality and for printing of paper on both sides in view to save environment and space,” the counsel argued.
