1. NHRC Summer/Winter Internship Programme 2024

The National Human Rights Commission has expressly been mandated to promote Human Rights literacy and awareness vide Section 12 (h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. With a view to spread awareness among University students about the need for protection and promotion of Human Rights, the Commission has been regularly conducting Internship Programmes’ since 1998.

  • Mode: Offline
  • Eligibility:
    • Students who have completed 1st year and are pursuing 2nd or 3rd year LLB (3 years) courses;
    • Students who have completed 3 years OR Semester VI of the 5 year course of BA/BA LLB etc. and pursuing 4th and 5th years;
    • Students pursuing L.L.M. Course;
    • Students pursuing PG Diploma in Human Rights, MA in Human Rights, PG students of Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration Rural Development, History, Economics, Commerce, Anthropology, Mass Communication, International Relations and any of the discipline of Social Sciences would be considered with preference to students pursuing their final year;
    • Only students of regular courses of UGC Recognized Universities will be eligible.
    • Students must have attained a minimum of 65% marks in Class XII and all subsequent years in attended degree programs.

2. LLB Internship Programme 2024 in the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice

Department of Justice (DoJ) organizes Internship Programme for young law students for doing internship. The purpose of this Programme is to well acquaint young law students with the working of Department of Justice by giving training in the field of research & referencing work, in various specialized areas of justice delivery, such as Access to Justice (Tele-Law, Nyaya Bandhu, Legal Aid, probono Legal Services), e-Courts services, Fast Track Special Courts, National Mission for Justice Delivery & Legal Reforms and CSS for Development of lnfrastructure Facilities in the District and Subordinate Judiciary.

  • Eligibility: Indian students who have completed 2nd year of study and have written the examination to enter 3rd year or studying in the 3rd year of three-year degree course or the students studying in the 4th year who have written examination to enter 5th year or studying in the 5th year of five-year degree course.
  • Duration: Duration of intemship ordinarily remain for a period of one month (four weeks). Monthly internship shall start from 01.06.2024 onwards during the current financial year (FY 2024-25). The following three slots offered during the I” phase (Summer Programme):
  • No. of Slots: The maximum number of interns to be allowed in a given monthly slots will be 10 candidates only subject to requirement of the Department. Orders of the Competent authority in this regard will be final.
  • Stipend: The interns shall be given an honorarium of Rs. 5000/- on completion of their internship.

3. NITI Aayog Internship 2024

Undergraduate/postgraduate students or research scholars enrolled in recognized universities/institutions in India and abroad can apply for the NITI Aayog Internship Scheme. They will work closely with NITI’s verticals/divisions/cells. Applicants will have to apply online by filling up the registration form.

  • Eligibility: Bonafide students of any recognized University/ Institution within India or abroad, fulfilling the following conditions are eligible to apply for the internship:
    • Undergraduate students, having completed/appeared in the term end exams of second year I 4th, semester of the bachelor degree course and secured not less than 85% or equivalent marks in 12th class.
    • Graduate students having completed/ appeared in the term-end exams of the first year/2nd semester of their postgraduate program or pursuing research/PhD and secured not less than 70% or equivalent marks in Graduation.
    • The students who have appeared in the final exam or just completed Graduation/PG and waiting for admission to higher studies may also be considered for internship provided that they have secured 7 Ooh or more cumulative marks in all the years/ semesters of their graduation/ post-graduation till the date of application.
    • The period between the month of declaration of the result of the final exam and the desired month of the internship should not exceed six months e.g. if the result is declared in the month of June then he/she can apply for the internship beginning till the month of December.
  • Duration: The period of the Internship shall be at least six weeks but not exceeding six months. Interns not completing the requisite period will not be issued any certificate.
  • Deadline: The online application link is open from 1-10 of every month.
  • Stipend: Unpaid Internship

4. Internship Opportunity at Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (ILDR)

Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research (ILDR) seeks to motivate, train, create interest and enhance capacity building in legislative drafting, legal research and training through multi-track initiatives across Law, Policy and regulation.

  • Eligibility: ILDR offers Internship to students of law in 5 years integrated LL.B. Course, 3 years LL.B. Course and 3 years B.A. (Law) Course.
  • Duration: Duration of Internship shall commence from the date of joining for a period of one month and upto a maximum three months, as decided by the Competent Authority and can be renewed for one more term of either description.
  • Certificate: On satisfactory completion of Internship, a certificate of Internship shall be issued to the candidate. For satisfactory completion of Internship 90% attendance is mandatory. Certificate will not be issued to the candidates whose attendance is less than 90% of the total working days during the period of their Internship. Absent days shall be marked in the Certificate.
  • Mode of Internship: This is full time Internship to be attended physically and the candidates are not expected to pursue any other course/work during this period.

5. Internship Opportunity at Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO, Govt of India)

The SFIO Internship Programme provides a platform for interaction of talented and young scholars and researchers from academic institutions who are pursuing PG/Research programmes in Economics, Commerce, Law, Management and Computer Forensics as well as professional courses with Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICWA) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India with officers of SFIO, including its regional offices.

  • Eligibility:
    • Students in PG Courses – MBA (finance), Law Students in 4th/5th Years of a 5-year stream with consistent and excellent academic records,
    • Fresh graduates with excellent academic records possessing first-class graduation degrees,
    • Students pursuing PG courses with high second class graduation degree (with at least 55% marks),
    • Students pursuing Masters/Research courses in Economics/Finance/Management/Law at National School of Economics/Law/Computer Forensic at recognised institutions in India and abroad,
    • Students pursuing final year or equivalent of ICAI, ICAI (CMI), ICSI, Central Universities/AICTE recognised Financial/ Economic institutions/recognised National Management Institutes/Foreign Universities and institutions of excellence.
  • Stipend: The intern will be paid stipend Rs. 7000 per month for the period of internship on certification from the officer the intern is attached to.
  • Duration: Minimum: One month & Maximum: Two months

6. MEA Internship Program 2024 at Ministry of External Affairs

Ministry of External Affairs has launched the MEA Internships Programme in International Law from the year 2023-24. This program is aimed towards continuing the aim of the Ministry to bring in more focus on MEA to provide value to the interns by providing exposure to International Relations & Diplomacy and to provide a platform for talented youth to nurture their talent in the field of International Law.

  • Eligibility: Internships in International Law at MEA headquarters shall be open to Indian citizens with a minimum educational qualification of a graduate/postgraduate degree in law from a recognized university or who are in their final semester/year of undergraduate/postgraduate, where an internship is a mandatory part of their final year curriculum. Age of the candidate should not exceed 27 years as on 31 December of the year of internship.
  • Duration: Every year, internships will be offered in two terms of six months each viz. April to September and October to March. A maximum of 30 interns will be engaged by the Ministry during each term. Each intern will be engaged for a minimum period of one month and a maximum period of three months.
  • Stipend: An honorarium of INR 10,000 per month will be paid to each intern to defray basic costs. Cost of one-time to and fro air travel subject to a ceiling of the prevailing economy class air fare between the State capital and Delhi, from the domicile State or from the college / university of the selected candidates will be provided. The interns would be responsible for their board and lodging in Delhi during the period of their internship.

7. Internship Opportunity at The Competition Commission of India (CCI)

In pursuance of its advocacy mandate under Section 49 of the Competition Act-2002 (Act), Competition Commission of India (CCI) undertakes various focussed outreach and training programmes with its wide spectrum of stakeholders wherein students of Economics, Law, Management, and Finance etc. constitute a very significant part.

  • Eligibility: Internship is open to students from recognized Institutions and Universities with exposure to Competition Law.
  • Stipend: An amount of Rs.15,000/- per month will be given as honorarium during the internship.
  • Duration: Internship is normally for a period of one month, commencing on the 1st working day of the month. However, applicant desirous of pursuing internship for 2-3 calendar months can also apply with due recommendation of respective University/ College/ Institution for the period applied for.
  • Deadline: Application should reach by 1st of preceding month to the month for which application is intended to be made e.g. for Dec, 2016 application should reach by 1st Nov, 2016.
