Due to chemical farming, he said, the overall fertility of lands has decreased, and farms have become barren. This, he said is because chemicals have killed the farmer’s best friends – earthworms. But his unique fertiliser would help bring back the earthworm, which is deep inside the earth, he said.
The Governor also said that people should stop the “sin” of burning farm stubble.
“Burning your farm land is like burning your own body. This is a paap (sin) and we should avoid all this. Instead, after harvesting is done, cover your farm land with mulching. This will help retain the carbon within the land and it would only enhance the fertility,” he suggested.
Finally, he said that if natural farming techniques are used, cows won’t have to wander on the streets, and people won’t fall prey to deadly diseases like cancer. Further, the government would not have to spend crores to import urea and other fertilizers for farming.
