The present plea was moved by Advocate Hari Shankar Pandey, who claimed that both the leaders were trying to spoil the atmosphere of Varanasi by hurting religious sentiments through their comments pertaining to the Gyanvapi Mosque dispute.
Pandey had argued that despite the Supreme Court not commenting on the matter, these leaders were trying to instigate the emotions of the people for the purpose of votes.
