About the Organisers

The International Mediation Conclave (IMC) 2024, a prestigious mediation event, is being organized by the School of Law, Mahindra University, Lex Erudites, India, and Grayspace Law & Policy Consulting, Belgium. This significant event is scheduled to take place in Hyderabad from August 8th to 11th. The International Mediation Essay Competition is also a part of this esteemed conclave.

School of Law, Mahindra University: ‘Jnaanaarthe Pravesha, Sevaarthe Prasthana’ encapsulates the ethos of entering an institution for knowledge and exiting to serve society. The School of Law, Mahindra University (MU SOL), established in September 2021 in Hyderabad, embodies this philosophy, focusing on justice, equality, and service. MU SOL offers integrated undergraduate programs like BA. LL.B (Hons) and BBA. LL.B (Hons) alongside a 3-Year LL.B (Hons) program, guided by a distinguished faculty. In line with its commitment to research, MU SOL is creating two Research Centres, CADML and TMCACL, with plans for additional programs, including a B. Tech LL.B (Hons), LLM in Tech Laws, and a Ph.D. in Law across various domains.

Lex Erudites, India: Lex Erudites is a humble initiative guided by its primary vision: to provide a distinguished platform for socio-legal discourse and scholarship. As an e-journal, we aim to advance legal knowledge across international borders. Since 2021, Lex Erudites has been hosting its annual International Mediation Competition under the patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Bryan Clark, attracting substantial participation from over 90 universities globally and featuring a diverse panel of adjudicators. Our initiative holds recognition from the Razorpay Rize Program and collaborates with the S.LA.T.E program (Sustainability, Leadership & Agency Through Education), which currently supports 12,000 students. Lex Erudites remains dedicated to championing the spirit of legal education and international dialogue.

Grayspace Law and Policy Consulting: Grayspace, a law and policy consultancy firm based in Belgium, focuses on legal and advocacy matters in the European Union (EU). We assist companies (early-stage companies, start-ups, scale-ups and entrepreneurs) in navigating through the legal and policy issues necessary for your business. Mediation is certainly a tool we consider when resolving disputes, and our approach continuous to be that dispute resolution be considered at the outset of negotiations. At Grayspace, we have helped our clients, both corporate and individual, resolve disputes quickly and cost-effectively through direct negotiation and formal mediation processes. Our dispute resolution advisory, compliance and litigation services extend to Europe and international markets in the family, real estate, and vertical sectors, i.e. transportation (air, space, road and maritime), trade and technology.

About the Competition

The International Mediation Essay Competition, being held as part of the conclave, aims to welcome all interested authors to submit their views. The International Mediation Essay Competition aims to promote awareness and understanding of the importance of mediation as a method of resolving conflicts. The essay competition intends to provide insights regarding the arena of mediation and new trends in the global economy. Through this competition, we encourage participants to research and write about mediation. The competition aims to foster interest in the alternative dispute resolution process and highlight its benefits in promoting peaceful and effective conflict resolution.

Eligibility

The competition is open to all individuals, not limited to law students. Entries are welcome from students, professionals, and enthusiasts of dispute resolution and mediation.

Participants may submit their essays using the link at the end of this post.

*Please note that the essay must be in Word format. Participants are also required to adhere to the submission guidelines mentioned here.

Fee Details

The competition does not charge any fees.

Prizes

Selected essays will be published in a book format by the School of Law, Mahindra University, and the winners will be awarded with cash prizes worth INR 100,000/-
