How did you apply for the internship?

The application process is simple. You simply need to go to the CRY website and fill in the form for the internship (https://www.cry.org/volunteering-and-internships/). Internship opportunities are available in the following cities: Bangalore, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune.

The minimum time commitment is 4 weeks, and the intern should be aged 18 years and above. A representative will get in touch with you via email. A short telephonic interview was conducted after which I received the joining letter. One should apply at least 2 months in advance, as the process does take some time.

First-day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

An online orientation day was conducted on the first day. A brief history of CRY was told to all the new interns. The structure of the internship was explained.

Main tasks

The internship consisted of varied tasks ranging from making ppts, write-ups, connecting with local artists, photography, video editing, conducting fun activities in government schools etc.

Work environment

The work environment was supportive. My supervisor as well as other people whom I was placed under were kind. They gave constructive criticism whenever required.

Good things

The timings were flexible. You are not required to go to the office every day. In fact the only day I went to the office was to get some signatures on the last day.

The interns work closely with the volunteers, some of which were highly resourceful. Thus is it a good place for networking and building connections. The interaction with students of the government school was wholesome and interesting.

Bad things

Lack of any legal work (as a student of law). Lack of structure of work. The tasks were extremely varied, and no blueprint of work existed. The tasks given to interns varied drastically. Thus not everyone had the same experience.

Stipend

No stipend.

Details about accommodation and commute

A number of pgs are available in Bengaluru. To commute, one can use autos/ola/uber or public buses.

Anything else?

CRY is located at a central location. There are a number of eating joints located nearby. Overall, it was a fun and light experience.
