Through my contacts.

First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, First Impression

I worked under V Prakash (Senior Advocate). I had a basic interview on the first day. They collected my personal details. Infrastructure was good and they had an amazing library inside the office. I was introduced to the co-interns and advocates. I was given a separate desktop and notepad for my personal work

Main Tasks

Legal research, documentation, client interaction, court observation, drafting, case reading, carrying bundles to court, drafting legal notices and memos, section work, and corrections are required to be carried out in the drafts such as written statements, petitions, written arguments etc

Work Environment

The work environment was very friendly. Office timings are from 8 am to 7 pm. Advocates motivated and helped us in completing the work. I was working under the supervision of the Senior Advocate wherein he encouraged me to explore my potential in legal research.

I learned the basics of court proceedings and also witnessed the cross-examination in court. I had an opportunity to see Supreme Court proceedings via virtual mode. The Senior counsel is a well-established advocate in labour law and is also a Supreme Court advocate who has given various landmark judgements on various disputes.

Good Things

Interns were encouraged to do work, snacks were provided for interns. Since the office is opposite to High Court, transportation was not an issue. You can inculcate the habit of reading newspapers daily and my senior insisted on looking for any PIL-related issues which pop up in daily newspapers. It’s a good place for networking and gaining experience.

Bad Things

I didn’t find any inconvenience at the workplace as it was very friendly and safe. The office treats everyone equally without any bias. Usually, most of the interns will be belittled if we are working under a senior counsel but my experience was different and I didn’t encounter any such bias at the workplace.

Stipend

Rs. 3000/-
