How did you apply for the internship?
I applied for this internship via e-mail Id i.e., sondhiandpartner@gmail.com
First-day formalities, infrastructure, first impression
To be very honest, On the first day of the internship, the clerk of the office explained to me the office timings with the Disciplinary code of conduct that was to be followed in the office during work hours and then I was asked to introduce myself to all the associates of the office.
The office is easily traceable, located at a 5 minutes walk from Netaji Subhash metro station. The office is like any law firm with different work divided among all the associates, clerks, and juniors. During my time in the office, there was a total of 6 associates and 5 clerks and 1 manager.
Main tasks
On the first day, I was assigned the task of making judgement briefs reading provisions of the arbitration and conciliation act and consequent research on various case laws. Also, I did some sort of Miscellaneous work such as pagination, stamping, indexing, metadata, tracking etc.
The primary tasks that I was assigned were research on various provisions of section 138 of the Negotiable Instrument Act, order 21 of CPC, Arbitration and Conciliation act, which also involved making judgement briefs, drafting cases as well as preparing case file briefs along with annexures.
During the period of my internship, I also attended hearings in all the District Courts of Delhi.
Work environment
The work environment of the office is quite strict as Sir Deepankur Sondhi is strict with punctuality and discipline. One can love the environment of the office as Sir usually use to interact with all the interns and other associates are also helpful and knowledgeable.
Good things
There are a couple of opportunities to learn different aspects of laws and their practical applicability like researching precedences, drafting and briefing as the number of matters the firm deals with is more.
Bad things
During my time there I didn’t find any complexity but time can be one of the issues for the interns.
Stipend
At the end of the internship, I received Rs. 3000/- stipend based on my performance and Certificate.
Details about accommodation and commute
I used to live in a PG located in Kohat Enclave, Pitampura, one station away from the office.
Anything else?
This office can be a good option for law students as the culture of this office facilitates every intern to learn from the ground level.
