On the very first day, we received a comprehensive briefing on the functioning of NALSA, including its various organs and schemes. After the lunch break, we were assigned topics, generally related to different NALSA schemes, on which we were to prepare a report. The initial impression was positive, with well-organized first-day formalities.

The infrastructure was impressive, providing a conducive environment for learning and working. It’s advisable to wear formal attire on the first day and ensure your attendance. We were provided with the NALSA documents to read and were expected to diligently complete the assigned tasks, such as reading and explaining them.

Main Tasks

This internship benefits students in their initial year of law school as it does not require extensive knowledge of procedural laws and focuses more on fieldwork and visits. You will be allotted a District. While interning in your respective districts, you will be expected to study the operations of the District Legal Service Authority and interact with panel advocates.

During the first week, interns were tasked with creating a project report on various NALSA schemes, presenting it to the Member Secretary, and observing NALSA’s workings. Following this, we were assigned to the Delhi Legal State Authority.

We received a detailed schedule for the upcoming days on the very first day at the Delhi Legal State Authority. This schedule included visits to the Juvenile Justice Board, Child Welfare Committee, Rehabilitation Centre, Tihar Jail, Mandoli Jail Visits. We also went to Supreme Court unofficially not included in official visit as it is nearby.
