How did you apply for the internship?

I was provided this internship through my college. But you can also apply for this internship through their website – https://teensofgod.org/

First day formalities, infrastructure, first impression

So they do not have a proper head office which is a bit of a disadvantage.

However, our work mostly happens at the outdoors.

Thus I believe it did not affect our work as such.

Since we had to go to different slums and underprivileged localities to teach kids.

Main Tasks

They have programmes such as Susiksha, Hifaazat and many more.

Susiksha – Teaching programme for the under-privileged kids.

Hifaazat – Through this programme the NGO aims to spread awareness about health and hygiene.

Teaching children the proper way of cleaning their bodies, informing girls about the usage of sanitary pads (what’s there purpose, how to use them, etc.)

We used to teach the under-priviledged kids for about 1-2 hours everyday.

The working hours were very flexible and I could easily take days off as they had many interns to take over.

We also used to provide kids with ration (for those who couldn’t afford it).

We also got many children enrolled in government schools.

Work Environment

The working environment was really good.

My supervisors and fellow interns were very cooperative and understanding. We also had off on weekends.

Good Things

The work that I did in this NGO was immensely satisfying.

It was a great learning experience too.

Students come to realize the amount of hard work that goes into teaching children and come face to face with the harsh realities of our society.

Bad Things

We had to do the teaching in open air classrooms only as there was no proper dedicated space.

During winters it got pretty cold outside and was a bit uncomfortable for the children and us too.

Stipend

None

Details about accommodation and commute

It was near my home so I could just walk or take my scooty to the place.

However, you can also easily take an OLA or an Uber to the place or even a bus.

Anything else?
