Internship Opportunity with Indo-German Energy Programme, Delhi (IGEN) [6 Months; On-site; Stipend worth Rs. 23k]: Apply by July 1

The Indo-German Energy Programme is looking for interns for a duration of six months and is inviting applications for the same.

About IGE

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has entrusted GIZ with the responsibility for implementing the German contribution to the Indo-German Energy Programme – Promotion of Solar Water Pumps (IGEN-PSWP). IGEN-PSWP facilitates the accelerated deployment of solar water pumps for productive use in selected states in a sustainable manner in rural India.

About the Opportunity

The project aims to facilitate the creation of an enabling market environment for promoting productive use of Decentralized Renewable Energy Technologies (DRE) technologies within the agriculture, dairy and fisheries value chains in select locations in Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Assam. The duration of this internship will be 6 months from office based out of Delhi.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist project activities related to financial product design and pilot implementation with respect to Decentralized Renewable Energy technologies, thereby facilitating roll out of suitable financial products. For this, the candidate should be willing to conduct background research and provide practical inputs to the financial product roll out process, customer sourcing, stakeholder consultations and facilitate engagements with Financial Institutions.
  • Assist in the implementation of capacity building and sensitization activities for financial
    institutions with the aim of accelerated deployment of solar pumps in India. For this, the candidate
    should be willing to coordinate the training schedule, monitor training methods/tools/training content with the objective of maximizing impact of said trainings.
  • Support the project team in additional operational tasks such as organizing workshops,
    development of communication materials and other ad-hoc tasks deemed necessary to meet
    project objectives (coordination, repertoire, development of presentations, secondary research
    and related project management activities).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Final year Masters from India in any of the areas of- development finance/ international development/ public policy/ development economics/ rural development/rural or agriculture banking/ agricultural economics and/or related areas (we are open consideration of other qualifications, so please don’t hesitate to apply). Post-graduation should not have been completed more than six months ago.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort in working with credit appraisal systems and financial products. Experience of work/engagement/internship with Financial Institutions/CSO/organizations in the area of financial inclusion and improvement of financial literacy will be an added advantage.
  • Readiness to travel to rural areas and effectively contribute to the above tasks.
  • Keen interest to support the convergence between renewable energy and finance in agriculture and allied activities in rural India. Ability to work with and coordinate between multiple stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods. Experience in design of impact evaluation will be an added advantage, although is not necessary.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi languages. Strong communication and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office applications.

Stipend

The candidate will be provided a stipend of INR 23,000/- per month. Taxes as applicable may be
deducted from the stipend in accordance with law.
